Hardgraft 2Unfold Black Laptop Bag Review

I have used the black—or, as they call it, Coal—2Unfold laptop bag for 5+ years. In those five years, the bag has seen quite a lot. It has been my daily driver for many business meetings and travel, as well as for leisure travel.

Usability & Features

The coolest part about the bag is in the name. You can use it in two ways and in three if you count the backpack mode, which I never really use. You can fold the back to its smallest form factor configuration when carrying only your laptop, charger, and other minimal gear. When you need more space, you can use it without folding, and you can carry your basic work kit + your gym gear, for example.

The backpack mode requires you to remove the carry strap and hook it in a funny way to make a backpack. And since the strap is not fully attached in the middle, it keeps sliding if you pull on one side. Because of this, the backpack mode does not work for me.

Besides the name-sake trick, there are many pockets: three in front, one at the back, and one inside. The main compartment features a zipper and magnets. The magnets are powerful enough that I rarely need to use the zipper. The front flap also has magnets to keep it in place while on the move.

The two front pockets are different sizes. The bigger one is the perfect size to fit your passport, phone, etc. The smaller pocket I usually use to carry business cards, sunglasses, and a Fat Cloth. The big pocket at the back of the bag is great for storing documents or a notebook without squishing them.

Aesthetic & Design

The laptop bag's aesthetics are very pleasing to the eye. The combination of black leather and gray felt is a great pairing. Its design is unique and works well in a formal and non-formal setting.

Durability & Care

After 5+ years, the bag has yet to show any real wear and tear. The leather has acquired a nice patina. The stitching and zippers are top quality, and I've not experienced any issues. Surprisingly, also, the magnets are still going strong.

I apply leather care cream a few times a year to maintain the bag. I should probably do more to maintain its condition, but the current maintenance regime is working well so far.

Final Thoughts

If you are looking for a unique laptop leather bag that is versatile and works great for daily business meetings, for business travel, and for city vacations - look no further. Hardgraft gear can be hard on the wallet, but you will pay for quality and uniqueness. The price does not feel too bad over the years.
